Chapter 3: The Skyline

The day after the race Connor woke up and slowly got up so as not to disturb his sleeping wife, who happened to be lying on his chest. He walked into the kitchen and began breakfast before she woke up. When he finished cooking he ate and set out a plate for her and leaving a note before he walked out the door and jumped into the Celica. He rode around a bit before he spotted something, 'A Skyline.' He drove into the car dealership and jumped out to take a look at the rare car. "Good Morning sir, how may I help you?" a dealer asked walking up behind Connor. "Yes I believe you can, I am very interested in this car right here," he replied pointing at the Skyline. "Well as you can see, it is not in very good condition, but I guess you want to fix her up, right?" the dealer said noticing the look in Connor's eye. "Yes sir, how much are you asking for it?" Connor replied, still not taking his eyes off of the Skyline. "Umm.. for you I would have to say twenty thousand..considering the condition it's in," the dealer replied. "I'll take it!" Connor said quickly, trying to keep himself from jumping for joy. "Well sir I'll need you to sign some paper work, and figure out a payment plan." he began before Connor interrupted him. "I can pay in cash," Connor said. "Well I guess you have just halved the paper work," the dealer replied leading Connor into the dealership office. After signing all the paper work Connor moved the Skyline to the back of the lot and drove home in his Celica. He walked in the house and found his wife sitting at the table eating the food he had left her. "So. where have you been?" she asked looking at him as he sat down across from her. "I just bought a new car," he replied bluntly causing Laila to spit out her drink. "What!?" she yelled out, finally regaining her composure. "I bought a car," he replied nonchalantly. "Why the hell did you go and do that for?" she said glaring at him. "I'm sorry dear, but I saw it and just wanted to get it," he replied trying to calm her. "And what kind of car is it?" she asked calming slightly. "A Nissan Skyline," he replied. "And how much did it cost?" she asked, her eyebrow twitching. "Twenty thousand," he replied cringing from her anticipated reaction. "Oh well, I guess I should have known this would happened when I married you," she replied smiling. "I'm glad you like my decision," he replied smiling back. "Well, since I married someone who loves cars, I should have known you couldn't resist a rare car," she said walking over to him and kissing him gently before putting her plate in the sink. Connor watched as his wife walked back into their room and smiled at how understanding of him she was. 'Sometimes I don't know how she stands me sometimes,' he thought as she walked back out a half hour later ready.
She drove him down to the dealership so he could pick up his new 1999 Skyline. He drove the Skyline to his shop and began to work on it right away, and special ordering performance parts from Japan so he could use it to race. The next day the over-nighted parts arrived and he began the serious work on the car.
