Piercing the Heart of a Friend
I'm not quite sure how it began,
One minute everything was right,
The next I was trying to make a plan,
In order to show I was bright,
And could make a difference.

Can't quite figure out why,
I never said a word,
Guess I never wanted her to say "good-bye"
Guess I never wanted to use words as a sword,
And pierce the heart of a friend.

Confidences are broken,
Enemies are made,
Cruel words have been spoken,
The only thing I have to save,
Is my friendship.

Never knew just why I let her come,
Into the realm of despair,
Now my heart is broken and numb,
'Cuz I let her enter the devil's lair,
And sin while I looked on.

Can't quite figure out why,
I never said a word,
Guess I never wanted her to say "good-bye"
Guess I never wanted to use words as a sword,
And pierce the heart of a friend.

I always thought I'd do what right,
But now I'm stuck in a bind,
I just want to know why I'm in this plight,
Do I do look away or do I do what's kind?
Why can't I just turn my head?

I only hope I'm not too late,
To save my friend from wrong,
I only hope I haven't earned her hate,
Oh, God please help me stand strong,
And firm in my decision.
