Standing at the window, I look out,
I'm all alone, no one shares my pain,
Kids running to and fro and all about,
I'm not cool or interesting, I'm just a plain Jane.

I'm not funny or bright,
I always try to follow the rules,
I try to do what's right,
But, of course, that's not cool.

An outcast of school,
I live for the time,
When one day I'll have the tools,
And everything will be mine.

Even though I try so hard,
I still have no one to share my pain,
And I feel like a worthless piece of lard,
I'm not cool or interesting, I'm just a plain Jane.

Because I'm just a plain Jane,
I don't have any one who loves me,
And in the popular world, that's a shame,
Oh, how I wish I could be free.

The years fly by, faster each year,
I am now old,
And I have shed more tears,
But through it all, I strove for the gold.

I may not live the perfect life,
But I have found love,
Love amongst the strife,
Love as pure as a dove.

I am no longer a child,
I have found someone to share my pain,
I am no longer meek and mild,
To him I'm cool and interesting, I'm no longer a plain Jane.
