So She Sat There
Author:

This is a warning in a way, warning us to live our lives. I don't know who 'she' is, so don't ask me. Maybe she's you.

When I read this to my mom, I could swear I saw her reaching for the phone and dialing the number of my shrink. How weird is that?

So She Sat There

She sat among the fallen and the forgotten.
She sat among the hated and the haters.
She wished to stand.
She could not.
So she sat there.

When she thought that all she had was lost,
She remembered.
There was a place with a swing,
With a slide...with a pond.
She could not get back.
So she sat there.

If her legs could only move...
If her mouth could only speak...
If her hands could only touch...
If her fingers could only grasp...
They could not.
So she sat there.

She sat among the risen and the rising.
She sat among the loved and the lovers.
She wished to feel.
She could not.
So she sat there.

Seasons passed.
Suns set.
Moons rotated.
Stars fell.
Angels rose.
She wished to rise.
She could not.
So she sat there.

If she could speak,
And she could not,
She would not ask for help.
She would tell you something.
She would tell you...
If you'd listen...
To not be like her.
She could not speak.
So she sat there.

She would say you are able to move.
She is not.
She would say you are able to speak.
She is not.
She would say you are able to touch.
She is not.
She would tell you to not be like her.
She could not.
So she sat there.

Shall we lift up our eyes to the heavens?
Shall we befriend even the smallest flower?
Shall we share all we have with others?
Shall we live each day to it's fullest?
Shall we live?
She could not.
So she sat there.
