Onii-san
Onii-san, a word I've learned
To use sparingly.
I wish to use it more,
But you have said o.
I attempt to respect your wished,
Though if you knew my heart,
I have no doubt that you would agree.
To me, onii-san is everything you are.
Respected, beyond your understanding,
Loved with all of my heart.
To me, a brother is a part of my family,
Yet onii-san is more.
Onii-san is someone who
I can always look up to,
Always talk to,
Who I can learn from.
He is my friend, my family,
My advisor, my guide.
He is more a part of my life
Than almost anyone else.
To me, onii-san is everything good
I've ever seen in you.
And, if you would let me,
I would call you what you are.
Onii-san.
That, you will forever be in my heart,
And maybe someday on my lips.
Names DO mean something,
As some show more love than others.
Patrick, you are to everyone,
Brother, I'll never call you.
Onii-san is for you, from me alone.
A way for me to show how much I feel.
Now. May I call you what you truly are to me?
