I see ancient Hindu temples,
skyscrapers that reach to the heavens,
rivers that run free of pollutants.
I learn about an Egyptian tomb,
comb through artifacts from a lost age,
discover for myself what the world has to offer.
But for all of this, I have never left the country.
I have never sailed beyond the shores of America,
I've never really touched the world's opportunity.
I've never seen Egypt, Britain, or Rome.
Nor Sweden, nor Greece, nor India.
But through books I have learned so much more
then anything a teacher can teach.
In a few hours I can see distant lands,
without the assistance of a plane or a car.
Even here, from my cozy nook by my computer,
I read, I watch, I click,
and I gather more perspective than a traveller could in a year.
I am and proud to be, a world traveller. Through books.
