Skewered

Sliced and severed away,

My fingertips are frozen,

As if to touch your cheek,

Was to hold frozen rain.

They bleed like tiny streams,

Effectively draining my life,

My hands they tremble,

They have never touched a thing.

I’m in love with someone,

Who doesn’t know I exist,

How can I expect to be loved,

I do not even love myself.

My eyes fill with weak tears,

They drip away from me,

The only sign of humanity,

Lying is simply second nature.

Who knows what lies underneath?

I don’t want to be discovered,

For fear of having nothing important,

Just another broken, worthless soul.
