A Friend’s love,
A Fate’s JourneyBY: TRCChapter 1: A Sorrowful Ending, a New Beginning“All passengers of flight number 212, please proceed to terminal 2. Again…”
“ Good-bye, Tsubame-chan.” Asuka bid sorrowfully to Tsubame. Tsubame nodded and hugged back tightly the flame-haired girl. The place, filled with people hugging and sobbing to one another as well, disheartened more of the 2 girls feelings.
“I’ll miss you,” she replied, her indigo orbs filled with forlorn emotion. Passengers who got of the flight exchanged cheers and laughter as they saw there their loved ones again. If only that was the situation instead, she thought.
“I’ll miss you too. But we’ll be in touch right?”
It was reality. She was leaving.
Somewhere so far to a strange land filled with a different culture and communication. She was leaving her friend- a very special friend- who was looking at her in a comforting way. As they sat at one of the benches in the airport, they couldn’t have one happy thing to say. The clock was ticking, and Asuka was going to leave soon.
“Remember the times when we used to make stories of fantasylands and of bizarre plots? ” Tsubame said, comforting the humid situation.
The blue-spheres of Asuka lit of memories and smiled. “Yeah… it would always start with a heroine--”
“-- mainly either us,” the raven-haired girl added. Asuka chuckled and continued. They have done those things a million times before, in a span of just a short while.
“ Yeah, and then a prince charming would come along the way and then we live happily ever after.” Tsubame smiled and paused.
“Like it always does in fairy tales,” Asuka agreed.
Tsubame agreed and hastily removed her necklace and gave it to Asuka. Deep blue eyes gave confusion.
“What’s this for?” Asuka asked.
Tsubame gave a smile. “Remember when we were in the fourth grade? You liked my necklace that I let you wear it once in while. Well, this is my remembrance gift to you. Besides, it looks so much better on you.” she answered with a compliment. It was summer, more than a year they have just met.
Just a year, and a seedling of friendship blossomed into a strong tree, roots deeply stable onto the ground.
“ But that’s not fair!” the orange-haired one protested.
“ How come?”
“Well, it’s not like that I don’t want it. It’s just… it’s just… n-not fair, that’s all.”
They paused for a moment. Suddenly, Asuka had an idea. She removed her bracelet and handed it over to Tsubame. The twilight-eyes looked into the ocean-spheres of the other girl in disbelief. She knew that this was also one of her prized possessions. Asuka made it herself, with hard earned money for the materials. She slaved for the project for how many days, thinking what would look nice and all. But the blue-eyed one grinned with approval.
“Now THIS is fair.”
Tsubame smiled back as a sign of thanks and put on the fiery-colored bracelet. The beads glimmered within its wire of frame; each bead marbled with different hues of red, yellow, orange and black. As though flames on each bead danced in flow of a rhythmic beat.
“Don’t you think it’s a perfect match for both of us?”
Tsubame gave a confused look.
“I mean, the jewel in your necklace is the shape and color of water while my bracelet is in the shape of fire. You like fire while I like water, huh?” Asuka continued with scintillating eyes. True enough, the necklace was very simple, except it was long and could be turned into a choker. The pendant was a sapphire teardrop, framed into a gold plate. The lace was decorated with metallic swirls of paint, making it look authentic. Tsubame nodded in agreement.
They paused again.
Asuka checked the clock Tsubame looked at it too. They then exchange sad looks. The bright-haired girl stood up and paused. She looked at the raven-haired one with hot tears in her eyes. Tsubame felt the same. Her eyes were filled with tears too as her happy memories with her flashed in her mind in a second. She then stood up and hugged her for the last time. They hugged each other real tight, not wanting to let go. Asuka then released her then walked away slowly. She stopped again and took a deep breath.
She looked back at Tsubame and cried,
“I wont forget you. I swear, I won’t…”
Tsubame tried smiled back and waved goodbye. She covered her mouth to stop herself from crying so hard; closing her eyes spilt more of her tears.
Asuka, with a final glace to her beloved friend, went away.

“Tsubame, are you alright?” Michelle asked.
The school year had begun yet again. But like a puzzle, there was something missing.
“Huh? M-me? Er… I’m fine, I’m fine.” Tsubame reassured and force a laugh.
“You’ve been like this since the first day. Mind telling me what’s up with your mind?” The milk-chocolate haired one asked with concern.
“It’s not that of a problem,” Tsubame said as her twilight eyes betrayed her statement.
“Tsubame, you are liar to me,” the chocolate-eyed one made a mistake purposely.
Tsubame giggled. “It’s lying to me, Michelle,”
“Sowee!” she apologized said with a foolish grin. Then they both laughed which made Tsubame feel much better. After a while when Michelle left, laughing hysterically, the ebony-haired one glanced at her bracelet again. She was doing it so many times it was becoming a habit.
“Asuka, I hope you’re alright.”
(a/n: ne, is this better?)
