Melissa
Everyone in the building is out to lunch. The time is right. Everything is set and good to go. A shadow slinks through the corridors of the office building stopping in front of a cubicle that reads the names Bryan Heywood and Natalie Wong. Destination reached. The shadow slips in and spies its goal: the computer of Bryan Heywood. Working quickly, the shadow removes all the yellow Post-It notes (A/N: I don't own Post-Its handy as they are) from the monitor and arranges them neatly on the table beside it. He was a computer genius and knew exactly what he was doing. Turning around once more to check for any witnesses, the shadow removed the computer monitor and turned it 180o, then put back each Post-It note, leaving everything almost as it was. With time to spare, the shadow looked from side to side and seeing no one, slipped back out of the cubicle and started to walk casually down the corridors, whistling happily.

"Back to work, Bryan!" Natalie called out to her co-worker as lunchtime ended.
"There's nothing to do!" he complained but decided to keep up appearances anyways. He turned on his computer and swiveled around in his chair while waiting for it to start up. Finally turning to face his computer screen, he noticed something was amiss. "What the f***?" His computer was upside down! But who.it had to be. "KYLE!!!" The sound echoed through the building and somewhere, a single shadow danced victoriously in what looked like the YMCA dance. (A/N: Don't own YMCA or the dance) The war would continue.

"Happy Birthday, Kyle!" Everyone had gathered together in the office of Kyle Alden to celebrate his birthday. They had cake and he received lots of gifts.
"OK! My turn!" Natalie said. "This gift is from me," she told him and handed him a box, "And this one is from your girlfriend but she told me to deliver it to you."
Kyle opened the box to find a hat. He loved hats! "Thank you Natalie!" he cried and hugged her. Now for the present from his girlfriend: "A plant! It's so pretty! I'm going to name her Melissa." Kyle gently put Melissa on his desk near the window then turned around. "Thank you everyone!"
"OK, OK!" the manager called out, "Party's over! Get back to work, you slackers!"
"Going!" Everyone scattered and went back to their respective cubicles.

A week later, Kyle arrived at work with Bryan and went his usual routine. He hung up his jacket, turned on his computer, said hi to the people passing by his cubicle and checked his mail. Then he went to get a cup of water.
"Good morning, Melissa! Are you thirsty?" he called and was about to pour the water when he noticed that Melissa was.gone! Kyle had a feeling that it was Bryan but he had no evidence.
Working quickly, Kyle sent an e-mail to everyone in the building: Subject: Kidnapping To the person who kidnapped my Melissa; State the terms of her safe release.

Be advised that if any ill should befall her, I will make it my mission and sole purpose to find you, and strike you down with impunity.
Govern yourself accordingly,
The Punisher. P.S. In the mean time, she needs to be watered daily and needs natural light. Minutes later, he received several e-mail replies that read something like: Subject: Re: Kidnapping
What?!? Melissa's gone? Oh no! He received one from Natalie: Subject: Re: Kidnapping
Why did you send that to me? I can't believe you would think that I would kidnap Melissa. I went with your girlfriend to get her! Then he received one from an anonymous person. It read: Subject: Re: Kidnapping
MWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHHAHAHA!
***
For the next two days, Kyle searched the entire office building for Melissa. He interrogated Bryan at length but Bryan provided no information. Finally, Kyle found her. There, atop the refrigerator sat Melissa, wilting a bit but alive nonetheless. It must have been Bryan. He was the only one tall enough to reach up there. But Bryan had come to work with him and they had left together the night before. Bryan quickly gave some water to Melissa and returned to his cubicle. He sent out another e-mail to everyone. Subject: Re: Kidnapping
I'm happy to report that at approximately 5:14 PM on Tuesday June the 3rd, I located and liberated Melissa from her captors. Bryan T. Heywood was the primary perpetrator in this crime, but I have no doubt that he had at least one yet to be identified accomplice.
Thanks,
K.
*** Here is where our tale ends. This was based on a real incident. The accomplice still remains unknown until today. All I can say is that it wasn't Natalie. The character of Natalie was based on my own dear sister who told this story to me. But does it really matter? All that matter's is: Melissa's safe.
