They Received a Letter Today

My family is orginally from Russia, and they lived there during the revolution, they received a letter from a family friend who was close to Stalin, telling them that their names were on a list that they were going to be killed.

A basic white envelope
But, with the end and darkness inside
A message of death,
For who they are
What their past was.
The only way to be saved was to run -
Runaway from life
Runaway to new lands.
They stare at the letter -
To give in, or fight?
To deny your own future,
For one man's power.
