Dark World
I've broken down,
Sprawled on the ground.
Tears trespassed my facial features,
Blurred my once perfect vision.
There on the cold wet surface I sat,
Letting my tears mix with the dripping rain.
When you look into my eyes,
You'll only find disdain.
They will never be happy again,
Just like the time it used to sparkle.
There I was, staring into the darkness,
And no one cared or even noticed.
If I die today, it won't even be a bother,
Because the only other that loved me,
Just left here and escaped from this selfish world.
I'll soon join him,
Hopefully my eyes will then return
With the fury fire that once burnt.
Give me death or give me greed-hunger, self-centered earth,
And I'll choose death any day over the grief I'll leave behind.
Father chose honor and fought for the selfish others,
I'll follow suit before I become one of them.
Them, as in those who's only concern is for oneself,
Them, as in those who don't care,
Them, as in those who don't appreciate the sacrifices of soldiers like my father.
I pity them for not feeling,
I pity them for not having a clue
That there's more to life than what you see in your mirror.
