Christy opened her office door and a small man ran up to her.

“Hello, Christy, can I get you anything?” He seemed rather nervous, and he fidgeted, rubbing his hands together.”

“No, thank you, Felix. I'm good with lunch. This here,” Christy pulled Leila in front of her, “is Leila. She's just going to be here for that day.”

Felix looked up at Leila and his eyes widened, “Hello, Miss-Leila, was it?” He kept glancing up at Leila then to the ground...

Leila gave him a strange look, “Just Leila, alright?”

Felix's eyes lit up, “Yes, Leila!” He seemed like he was about to bow but thought better of it.

Christy delivered Felix a strange look and told him to go back to work.

“Right away.” As he scurried off to copy some papers for her.

Christy signaled for Leila to sit on the black leather chair seated

in front of her desk as she took her own seat. She tossed Leila her sandwich and fries and gathered her own food in front of her. Leila handed Christy her drink and the two munched on their lunch in silence.

Leila finally got the nerve to bring up what she was thinking, “Christy, uh, do you think you can call Carp now? I mean, the sooner you call him the faster I know where I'm going to stay.”

“Oh, yeah! Certainly, hold on,” she wiped her mouth and picked up the receiver, with a dance of her fingers she called her boyfriend.

“Hello?” A tired voice answered.

“Dave, Can I ask you a favor?”

“Do our conversations only take place when they entail favors?”

“For now, yes. Can I ask one of you, please?” She drew out the please trying to get him to see she was desperate.

“Yes, what do you need, Christy?”

“Do you think Leila can stay at your house, you know, till she gets her feet on the ground? She has no where to stay, she can't stay at my house and it'd be too weird for her to stay at Kehai's, you know...”

“Uh, Christy, I don't know about this.”

“Please, she really needs our help.”

“Fine, take her over after you get off of work, alright?”

Christy was beaming, “Yes! Thank you so much, Dave. This means so much to me.”

“Uh huh, did you need anything else?”

“Well, I told Kehai that I'd bring him a dinner over, do you want to come?”

“Honey, I can't come if you want Leila to come over, I have to get things ready for her, but you go on and take the stuff over. We'll spend some time together later, alright?”

“Sounds wonderful.”

“I'll talk to you later though, I have to get back to work.”

“Alright, bye Davey.”

“Bye Christy,”

She hung up the phone and smiled at Leila, “Everything is taken care of.”

“Aw, thank you so much Christy, I can't express my gratitude enough.”

“No worries, let me just finish this all up and I'll take you there.”
