On the Power of Love
A young man
Idealistic
Rosy-cheeked, his
Song a swelling chorus
Still unsung
Sang:
Love
Love is all we need
To heal the wounds,
To curb the greed
Love
Why don't you love each other?
If we could only love one another
Love would make our world
Peaceful utopia
love
love
love
all you need is love.
And the old woman
Wrinkled
Battered, bruised
Watched him from her
alley
broken bottles at her feet.
she saw this young man, and
she laughed
she laughed until the tears came
streaming down her cheeks
and still she cried
still she cried as she saw
the young man
fall.
