Intro

Glace sat there, on a tree deep in the forest at the Moonlit Lake, his big, icey-blue eyes straying at the moon and stars. He always did this after he completed a demon-hunting mission... There was something about this that made him feel calm and at peace...

It was getting late. Time to head back towards the village. Glace jumped from the treetop and gracefully landed onto the lush, green grass below. He stood there for a second or two, with a sigh he walked off and disappeared into the shadows of the dark forest.

-Author's Note-Well!! That was the intro!! I know I know, it's not very good, but wait till you read the actual story! It's better... Chapter One will be the first chapter!! YOU WILL read it! Then, YOU WILL review it! Thank you have a nice day!!

CHAPTER 1

The warm rays of sunlight softly beamed in through the window's smooth glass and onto Glace's bed. Slowly, his eyes began to open, exposing his tired, yet still shimmering icey-eyes. A gentle breeze flowed through the half-opened window... Another day...

After a few short moments, what seemed like an eternity to Glace, of lying in his bed, he decided not to make anything for breakfast this morning. Glace wasn't too hungry, especially after last night's grueling battle. He never really ate much anyway... Maybe a short walk through the forest would peaceful and get his mind off of last night... Besides, there wasn't anything else to do today...

Glace made his way in between the huge oak trees that filled the vast forest. Everything was calm and silent, except for the sound of the dead leaves crunching beneath his feet as he stepped on top of them. After moments of walking, Glace decided to sit down and listen. He didn't plan on listening for anything in particular... He just wanted to listen for any sound at all. First, though, he had to find the perfect spot to sit. Glace's eyes shifted back and forth as he stood there, his body without movement, when suddenly something caught his eye. A nice little area that was by a tree and on top of a soft patch of moist moss. Glace plopped down on it. His eyes closed and his mind became completely blank. The only sounds that filled the air were a bird's sweet melody and the high-pitched constant chirp from a cricket.
A chilly breeze swiftly swept over Glace's face, making him shiver, just a bit.i "Glace..." an almost un-heard voice whispered. In fact, it was too quiet to even be real. He thought it was just his imagination and quickly shrugged it off of his mind to go back to listening to the tranquil sounds of the forest.
The bird still sang, the cricket still chirped. He leaned up against the sturdy tree that was behind himself and began to relax again...

"Glace... ..." It seemed to echo through the forest once again. Glace knew it wasn't his imagination this time. Almost immediately his eyes shot open and Glace was on his feet. He crept his head to the left slowly, trying not to miss a single detail, looking for who ever, or what ever, was whispering his name. He saw nothing, then, began to look to the right, in the same slow motion as the last. Still, Glace saw nothing...

CRUNCH CRUNCH CRUNCH

Glace flipped around, he heard the sound of someone stepping on leaves behind him! Again, there was nothing in sight! What was going on? Maybe, he thought, it was time to get out of here before anything else happens!

Glace began to move in the direction in which he had come from. With no warning at all, something sharp slammed into the back go Glace's head, sending him flying toward the ground.

A tall woman with silky brown hair and shimmering emerald eyes stood at a hot stove cooking dinner. A semi-muscular man with dark-black hair and a mustache busted through the door. His lips were moving as if he were shouting, but there was no sound.

The woman frantically ran towards a little boy, who had blue eyes and the same dark colored hair as his father. She accidentally knocked some stuff over while scrambling for the boy, but didn't seem to care. She lifted the boy into her arms and the three scurried out the door.

It was hard to see, but there was fire. A lot of fire. So much fire, in fact, that the little boy could feel the crimson flames raging on his skin. People were running too. Running from men in black armor who were slaughtering anybody and everybody in sight. It was like Hell... Unexpectedly, the woman fell to the ground, lifeless, for what seemed like no reason. The little boy fell out of her arms and rolled a few feet away. She must've been hit by something, an arrow, maybe.

The father scooped the terrified boy up off of the ground and began to head for the village exit as fast as he could. After a few seconds of running, the father began to get tired. His ankles were about to buckle, but he kept going. They were almost there! They would be safe soon... Just as they neared the exit, there was a sharp pain in his right leg. He then felt blood trickling down his leg. An arrow must've hit him!

Another arrow went zooming by, just barely missing the little boy. The father stopped, frozen in fear, not to mention the pain in his leg was dreadfully unbearable. As he did, a house that raged with flames, a few feet away from the two, came crashing down on itself, sending pieces of blazing wood and splinter everywhere. A broken board with rusted nails sticking out of the end flew straight into the back of the father's head.

He instantly fell to the ground and with his last few breaths of strength, he shouted something to the boy over and over. The boy then turned around and began to run to the exit. He ran as fast as his legs would go. All the way out of the village and into the outskirts of the forest. He looked back, only to see the red-orange glow of fire and coal-black smoke over top of the trees where his village was.

Glace slowly opened his eyes. He was, trying to remember... He was where he was earlier, where he had been knocked out. It was now nighttime. Had he really been unconscious for that long...? It's been a whole day...

Glace lifted himself from the cold ground to brush the leaves and dirt off of himself. His legs felt all wobbly. Like jelly or something. His head hurt too, right in the back where he had taken the blow. He put his hand there. A tiny bit of blood was dripping from his head and down his neck.

It wasn't a very dark night. The only light that was provided was from the moon and the millions of stars that dotted the dark-velvet sky. That was all the light Glace needed, anyway. In fact, he preferred dark rather than light. He couldn't explain why... It's just the way it was. It suited Glace better.

Moving swiftly, Glace made his way to the Moonlit Lake. He decided it would be nice to take a dip in the cool lake water to rinse the blood off. Glace also wanted to fall asleep in his tree tonight. He didn't want to go back to the village, not tonight. Actually, he never wanted to go back. There was nothing there for him. No family, no friends, no life... Just a tiny house, that's all...

A clearing in the trees opened and Glace began to slow down. The lake... He couldn't wait to feel the lake's water against his skin... Glace strolled all the way over to the edge and peered over. He saw his reflection. How pathetic... Glace hated himself. He hated his life, or at least what he had of one. He was forced to live forever just to destroy demons, just so they wouldn't harm people. People that didn't even care about Glace. Why him...? Why was he chosen to do this...? Why did the gods above do this to Glace?

After a few moments, Glace snapped back into reality. He leaned over and put his hand in the water to run it over his reflection. The water felt nice... He stood back up. He then took a big leap and dove into the water.

Glace was a great swimmer. He swam all the way out into the middle of the lake. For a few moments, Glace floated on his back in the water just thinking... That's what Glace does a lot, he thinks. He was thinking about his parents, when he realized that he had floated all the way to the other side of the lake. Glace decided to swim all the way back, then fall asleep in his tree.

Now in his tree and all cozy, Glace remembered something. The whispers... Who was whispering...? A demon, maybe? After all, Glace is a demon hunter. Most demons couldn't even talk, though. They only knew how to do one thing, kill. But then again, it could have been someone from the village playing another cruel joke on Glace. He remembered the last joke they played and shuddered. He just wanted to go to sleep now.

Glace closed his eyes and began to doze off. He began to hear something, not to soon after. It sounded like a horse walking down a dirt path in the forest. Who would be out at this time of night...? Glace opened his eyes and stood up on the branch and looked around the edges of the vast lake. A few feet from his tree stood a horse with a woman in a dark gray hooded cloak on top of it.

"Who," Glace shouted down to the woman in a serious voice, "are you? What business do you have here?"

There was no reply. The woman removed the hood of the cloak from her head. "Relax," the woman finally said. "I just stopped here for a few moments for Dutches here to rest..." She hopped off the horses back. Almost immediately, the horse walked to the edge of the lake to drink. Glace let off his guard a bit... It was just a traveler...

Author's Note- Well that's it for chapter 1... I know it isn't much... But oh well. I like it. Please stay tuned for the next chapter! Thnx!
