This was the last ever post i made on my old Neopets Guild. i know that Anne McCaffrey fanfics are not allowed...but...this is not exactly a fanfic. you can report me if you wish, yet these are my own characters, they just happened to have elements of another authors story in.

The End
The sky darkened as Thread began to fall rapidly, the streaks of grey, wriggling and squirming death blanketing the atmosphere with an unnatural life of their own.
T’lar felt his heart beat faster as he jumped onto the strong neck of his startlingly bronze dragon Rylanth and felt an odd shiver of doom run through his flesh. Something of a smile cracked his lips but the dampening but unknown sadness that his dragon commented upon feeling made it fade.
T’lar looked at the sky with a fear he had never felt before but pumped his arm for the Wings to rise and had to look back so he could see what he knew would the last ride he was ever to see.

The magnificent sight of his Weyr and his Dragons filled his heart with a swelling pride tinged with a chilling sadness and he turned away, feeding his dragon, readying himself for the last Flight.
He did not know how he was to die, but knew it, knew with such certainty that it made him still and close his eyes to the sights of the needless Thread destroying his home. The heavy thumping of heavy wings beat the air and swept him ever closer to his goal.

As Thread swamped his vision, a blast of brilliant flame seared everything in sight and he barked in triumphant with the roar of Ry joining him. T’lar felt the fight with Thread slip away as it had so many times into the drilled lessons ever present in his mind. He knew what he was doing.
Suddenly he heard a loving whisper in his ear, and he jerked his head left, staring into empty space.
It echoed about him, calling him, her voice, needing him, wanting him. He remembered it like a searing pain in his chest, a haunting need within. She had never left him since that day and he knew she never would, but now she wanted him back. They could be together.
Rylanth’s deep voice in his mind embroiled with Hathe’s and their tones swept him into a song of intense and soul-wrenching emotion. He had to go with her, they had to be together.
The bronze let out a note of high keening and T’lar opened his eyes to stare at the grey skies, verdant earth and azure oceans once more before returning to the darkness where his beloved journeyed.

The Weyrleader and his Dragon leapt between and became an empty space in the sky while the struggle for the salvation of Pern battled ever on.
