I'm Keeping My Pride
I give you my heart,
And you crush it into pieces,
So why do you expect me,
To give you my dignity, too?
If there's one thing I have learned,
From the heartbreak and pain,
It's that I can keep my pride,
And my heart will heal.
I thought it was the end of the world,
But it seems just the beginning,
Now that I know I can live without you,
my life goes on when your not with me.
I filled out the pages of my diary,
With words of love and adoration,
They were written about you,
And I laugh at them now.
I never knew I could actually live,
Without you in my life,
But I have learned,
That I'm not helpless.
You didn't destroy me completely,
As I'm sure was your mission,
So will you try again,
With someone else?
I am free from the restraints,
Free to actually live my life,
Instead of letting you live it for me,
And you know what?
I am not helpless,
Like you say I am.
I am stronger than you think,
And I think that scares you.
I give you my heart,
And you crush it into pieces,
So why do you expect me,
To give you my dignity, too?
A/N: This is my first non-rhyming poem, so please take note! I know it's
not my best, but I had an inspiration and just kind of wrote it all down.
