A/N – I still own Gordita and everyone else like the green-eyed nurse. However, the Chalupa still belongs Taco Bell. (At least until I buy the franchise. That’s why I haven’t updated. I’ve been busy making an offer to Taco Bell. Shouldn’t be too long until I own the Chalupa. MWAHAHAHAHA!!!) If you believe that… well, we won’t go there.

I wish I could say everything ended well… and I can! Well, I finally arrived at the vet’s office. The receptionist asked why I was here and I told here that my pet was sick. She gave me some papers to fill out. I had to list my insurance information, my address, and information about Gordita. I returned the papers when I was finished and sat down with Gordita.

A little while later, a nurse called Gordita’s name and I jumped out of my seat and ran over to her. I fell on my knees and began pleading with her to save my Gordita. All those years at acting school weren’t for nothing you know. I was just getting to the groveling and tearing out my hair in anguish part when the nurse put her hand on my shoulder. I stopped my act and looked up into the greenest eyes I had ever seen. But then the green reminded me of the grass that Gordita could be romping in right now and I started crying again. She told me that the vet would do everything he could to save my pet, but he needed to see the animal first.

Taking a deep breath, I got up and prepared to follow her. However, she asked me if I could bring my pet along. Reaching into my pocket, I pulled out the Ziploc bag that contained the remains of my Gordita. Oddly, the nurse looked at me strangely. It was almost as if she couldn’t believe what she was seeing. I followed her into the labyrinth. I didn’t expect to get out alive. I dodged nurses and doctors. Strange animals on four legs growled at me as I passed. At one point, I had to flatten myself against the wall as a large dog, I believe it was, broke free and started chasing a smaller four-legged creature. I was sure all this excitement was not going to improve Gordita’s condition.

When we finally reached an empty room, I sank into the only chair with a deep sigh. The nurse asked me several more questions, which I answered as truthfully as I could. As she left the room, I opened the bag and started talking to Gordita. I was trying to calm her nerves, if not my own.

A few minutes later, the doctor arrived. After he asked me what was wrong with my Chalupa (I could have sworn he chuckled as he said that.), I mentioned I that Gordita had the W2FFMOH2S syndrome, 2L2M as well as the MCFOE diseases. The doctor knowingly nodded his head and asked to see Gordita. I showed him the plastic bag. (I swear he smiled when he saw it.) He gave the bag and some papers to the nurse and asked her to place them in file 13. The nurse tried to hide a smile as she left the room. She failed… miserably.

I asked the doctor what was going to happen and if he could save her. He told that Gordita needed surgery and that he would, baring any complications, be able to save her. However, I would need to leave Gordita here for a week. They needed time to operate as well as observe her. I willingly gave my okay and told the doctor to spare no expense. The nurse came back and escorted me to my car.

I drove home in a daze. I was worried about Gordita. For seven days, I was not aware of anything besides the fact that Gordita was probably scared. After all, she was all alone in a strange place. I hoped that the green-eyed nurse was being nice to here. I also hoped that they knew what to feed her. I still hadn’t figured that out. Finally, the day I was waiting for arrived. No, it wasn’t Christmas! It was better! Gordita was coming home! I hopped in my car and sped over to the veterinarian’s office, scared of what I might find.
