Pressure

Time has a mind of its own -
Tick, tock
As the lion purrs at my door.
If only I had the energy
To scratch it behind its ears.
Besides, there's a snake
Hanging on my doorknob;
He keeps bringing me apples.
I don't think he can find
Sweet, sinful Eve,
Though he ought to have
Noticed by now that
I'm hiding her in my bed.
She's a great comfort...
Heals the snakebites right up
(Kiss it and make it better)
But I still can't get to that lion.
He purrs to the rhythm of the clock.
No rhythm at all;
Faster, faster
Urges that snake while
I snuggle with Eve under
The security blankets.
