*Author Note*
Another sad and depressing poem. It was also originally written as a song, however, has survived as a poem. Read and enjoy.
Heaven, oh heaven
Help me please
Every story has two sides
And every person lives two lives
Daylight breaks over a dew-drenched horizon
She awakes, smiles as she rises
Prepares for another bright and glorious day
Cooks, cleans, and cares for the kids
But as the time draws near
She becomes fearful and drops to her knees
And she says:
Heaven, oh heaven
Help me please
I’m begging you on bended knees
Tell me can’t you hear my pleas?
Give me a sign
Heaven, oh heaven please
Night falls on a lovely suburban house
She cowers, terrified in a corner
Prepares for another dark and disparing night
He pulls in—late as usual
She becomes fearful and falls to her knees
And she cries:
Heaven, oh heaven
Help me please
I’m begging you on bended knees
Tell me can’t you hear my pleas?
Give me a sign
Heaven, oh heaven please
He walks in, the smell of alcohol trails behind
And there are harsh words, painful yelling
Soon bruises and cuts, scabs and scars
She wishes she could leave
But fears she hasn’t the strength
She becomes hopeful and drops to her knees
And she prays:
Heaven, oh heaven
Help me please
I’m begging you on bended knees
Tell me can’t you hear my pleas?
Give me a sign
Heaven, oh heaven please
