This Generation

Did you know,

            That so many would suffer?

Did you know,

            The so many would sacrifice?

Do you know,

            How many have been misled?

Guess,

How much blood has been lost,

At the expense of selfish desires.

We are not toys under your authority,

We are your children,

To protect, love, reassure and to understand,

Not to mistreat, to lie to and to break our hearts.

We are weaker you say,

But this generation is what you seek to protect,

To corrupt.

We are not weaker,

We are just still lost in our innocence,

With minds filled with more wild imagination.

We don’t want to be your equal,

We can’t degrade ourselves that far,

As we watch your greed,

My heart breaks,

I don’t want to grow to be like you,

I want to be able to have the power of innocence,

Of an uncorrupted mind,

To love what I love,

And to protect those who need it.

The powers of my words are not strong enough,

Not now, I know.

But I’ll keep on,

I’m going to show you,

This generation is smarter than yours,

We’ve learnt from the past,

            From your mistakes,

And we are stronger,

Because we are able to believe in what we want,

Because our innocence still remains with us.

We are able to believe,

For what we want,

For what is right,

For no more pain.

A/N: The usual, flames ignored, criticism on the way I write taken into consideration depending on my mood, positive input appreciated, random ramblings are welcome.
