Unexpected

Chapter One
Okay, what's wrong with this picture? Here I am, 21 years old, attractive, and here I am, a CIA agent. And people think I'm a tad odd, Jesimae was thinking to herself while waiting for her instructor Pete to come into his office.
"Okay, Jess, we have an assignment for you," Pete suddenly walked through the door of the very confined room.
"Ah, and who's presence do I get to charm this time?" Jesimae asked.
"Gabriel Jones. He's in a very imperative gang. Very dangerous." Pete threw a manila folder on her lap, and he sat down at his chair behind the desk.
"And what does thing gang do? Drugs?" Jesimae suddenly became serious.
"Mostly. And car stealing," Peter was throwing a rubber basketball in the hoop connected the wall.
"Oh yes, my favorite. So what am I supposed to do? Become his life long friend?" She flipped her head to side to side and said it in a perky tone of voice.
Pete laughed. "You can say that. Just find out the basic information, who these guys are sending drugs to."
Jesimae flipped through the folder. "Oh yeah, let me tell you, I bet he's gonna tell me that right away," she stopped on piece of paper, "hey he's pretty cute." She held the picture up so Pete can see him.
"Well, then this should a piece of cake," Pete replied.
"Okay, smart one, but how am I going to get to know this guy? I just can't show up or he'll think I'm into drugs too," Jesimae explained.
"That is where this comes in," he showed her the local newspaper.
She glanced at the page. "You've got to be kidding me. Some gang leader person running an ad for a roommate. Don't you think this is a teeny bit suspicious?" she handed the newspaper back to him.
Pete nodded. "Of course I do, but when opportunities strike like that you gotta take it."
Jesimae sighed and stood up. "I guess so, I'll be needing the address." She snatched the newspaper from him.
"This should be fun," she muttered to herself, in the driver's seat of her car. She pulled the mirror down and started to apply some eyeliner on her dark, chocolate brown eyes. Then she took out a brush and started to brush her long, light blond, hair.
She stepped out of her car and onto the pavement, looking up to the apartments.
I shouldn't have come here this late, Jesimae couldn't help looking at all of the homeless people on the streets. Me and gang leader, midnight, might not be a good idea. But on the ad in the newspaper it said people come at all times, she couldn’t risk getting seen.
She quickly walked up the apartment stairs to apartment 32F, on the 8th floor. She knocked on the door.
Gabriel came quickly to the door, took one glance at her, and said, "sorry I didn't order to room service."
"Hah. You wish. I'm here for the ad," Jesimae stated.
He looked at her. He had black hair and even darker eyes. He was the type of guy who had big muscles. "You're a girl."
She acted surprised. "What?!? What are you serious?!? I had no idea!"
"Ha-ha," he said sarcastically and nearly slammed the door on her face.
But she stopped the door from slamming with the heel of her foot. "Listen, I know you're some kind of chauvinist pig and all but I need an apartment. I can pay $2000 a month for rent." Her voice became icy.
He stiffened too. "I happen to be a pretty nice person. I just don’t like your attitude. I don’t like people who talk back to me."
"Wow, that's interesting. It really is." She said, "but I really need an apartment and I doubt all of the other low-life's who were looking at this apartment didn’t offer as nearly as much rent."
He stood silent, thinking. "I'll give you a tour."
Jesimae silently felt very relieved. She didn’t think it would be so hard to get to know this guy. It's going to be Hell trying to be friends with him.
He lead her through the apartment, it was huge. One big living room which connects with the living room, two bedrooms right next to each other, one already occupied by Gabriel, and a neat little bathroom.
"Then there is a downstairs, come this way," he led her to a door on the side wall and opened it. She followed him down the stairs and found a big screen TV, a gigantic half circle couch, a little mini bar, and a pool table.
"I'm guessing you're a party guy," Jesimae commented, looking around the room.
"You can say that. But there is one rule. Whenever I have a bunch of my friends down here you CAN NOT come down. Got it?" He asked very seriously.
"Whatever," she replied without much feeling but inside she was reeling. Hmmm… looks like I'm gonna have to crash a party one night.
"So," she turned to him and gave him a big smile, "am I a new roommate?"
He looked at her for a couple of seconds and then sighed. "Okay. I don’t really like you but I need the money."
Hmm… I wonder what he needs the money for. Hint, hint.
"Great!" Jesimae took his hand and gave him a handshake. "I'll see you tomorrow."
She turned her back and skipped up the stairs.
