OK...this is the first of what I hope to be many chapters in this story. If you read it, you’ll probably think that it’s a Resident Evil fic, but if you give it time and read until the end, you’ll realize that it’s in no way like R.E. I hope you like it, tell me what you think! And by the by, it’s in the form of a journal, and some of the other things are supposed to be newspaper articles and other stuff that the Main Character finds in his searches.

Transcript of Autopsy Tape 29-B; Hutchinson, Melissa; performed on June 3, 2003. M.E.- Mills, Cheryl

M.E.- Well...it was definitely a homicide...I can say that much for sure.

Detective Michael Johnson, C.G.P.D.- What makes you say that, Examiner?

M.E.- Look here, at the stab wounds, they’re ribbed towards the end, showing that a knife was used, poor bitch...

(Here we can hear a wet explosion, as if a melon was just dropped. It is followed by twelve dull thuds, each in rapid succession of each other. Then the tape is over.)

FILE #294625-A; Information on Autopsy 29-B, see attached Transcript.

The bodies of Medical Examiner Cheryl Mills, Det. Michael Johnson of the Cypress Grove Police Department, and the those of 10 interns watching said autopsy, were removed from Autopsy Room 4 in St. John’s Hospital in Cypress Grove, New Jersey, on June 3, 2003. The bodies were covered in blood from what appeared to be the Autopsy subject Melissa Hutchinson, whose corpse had burst from unknown cause. We are investigating the cause of said deaths, but have had little success.

Chief Detective Harold Bryhmer

It has been months since the body of Melissa Hutchinson burst and released its virus onto the world. There is no one left alive now. I walk the streets daily, searching for someone that’s still OK, but I haven’t found anyone at all. I’ve also been searching the hospital and police station for information that could try to explain what has happened...and I think I’ve pretty much got it. The papers attached to the front of this notebook are what I found that helped me figure it out. But before I go into that, I should tell you who I am. My name is Alexander H. Fenton, and I’m a doctor from Cypress Grove, New Jersey. Or at least I was. Now I’m just me, alone in this barren wasteland that was once a bustling city, living day by day, trying to keep away from the horrid things that now lurk within the darkened corners and empty houses that fill this wretched town. I decided to keep this journal, so that one day people might know that I was the only one left after It happened. I use capital letters there because that’s the only way to describe what happened, It. It was the release of a deadly virus onto my poor city, a virus that infects a persons mind in a way that makes them crave causing damage and pain wherever they go. So, naturally, murder is the first and foremost thing on their minds. Why am I not out there, you may ask, killing along with what used to be my family and friends? Because I resisted it. Somehow, the virus does not affect me, and I go on being sane while they all destroy life and property. Sometimes I wish I was like them, that way I wouldn’t have to look at their bodies after I kill them. For that is the only way I can maintain a life! I must kill them as I search; I suppose it is my punishment for being left alive. Whatever it may be, I hope to fully discover the cause of this terrible new world, and, perhaps, fix the damage, or at least escape.
