A sudden idea that came to me. I'm sure most of you out there have experienced this.

What Happens When a Heart Breaks?

Does it snap in half like a ragged stick?
Does it crash like a wave into the jagged rocks?
Does it collapse like a broken down building?
Does it burn like october leaves in a fire pit?
Does it shatter?

Like a wine bottle careening into the wall
liquid oozing down the walls, imitating blood
glass shards exploding throughout the room
imbedding themselves into tiny cracks
to be hidden until an unexpected event
causes you to step on them.

Heart break can be described as all of these things.
I have felt my heart
shatter
burn
collapse
crash
and snap
to be mended by no one.

The pieces slowly fix themselves one by one
but there are always a few pieces missing
like a second hand jig-saw puzzle
that has felt numerous angry hands trying to put the pieces where they don't belong.
Wrecking the whole puzzle for anyone else to come along and give it a shot.
