Ender's Shadow was written by Orson Scott Card. He wrote many other books including Ender's Game, Speaker for the dead and Maps in a Mirror: the short fiction of Orson Scott Card. This book was publishes 1999 copyright Orson Scott Card. Mr. Card lives in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Ender's shadow begins on the streets of Rotterdam. First we meet Poke a six- year-old street crew captain. It tells of how she meets Bean, a tiny four year old living alone starving on the streets. He helps Poke's street crew out by telling them to get a bully to protect them.

Poke is smart but not smart enough. She ends up picking the wrong bully. She chooses Achilles, a bully who survived with brains not bronze. Bean sees that it was a mistake and tells Poke to kill him. But Poke hesitates and Achilles wins the hearts of the other small children and gets to live.

The get into the soup kitchens after killing one bully and showing themselves off as a team. Achilles eats last and has them bring their bread home. He takes one bite from each piece except for Poke and Bean. Bean sees that he's just trying to separate them from the others. Achilles kills Poke and blames it on another bully and kills the bully.

As time goes on they make it so that only bullies with families can get into the soup kitchens. Soon a person looking for children for the battle school, the 'school in the sky', hears about how it started and finds Achilles.

She begins to teach the children and soon finds out that it was Bean who started the soup kitchen thing. As she teaches him more, she sees his full potential. She lets him take tests for Battle School and he passes his age level. So she puts up the level up and watches him struggle but have the highest scores ever.

She helps him remember where he came from and gets him to battle school. In battle school Bean meets up with some other kids (older) and becomes friends with one: Nikolai. Bean begins his life in Battle school by being called Ender's shadow of sorts.

Bean is quickly sorted into an army called Dragon. He begins to get top scores in the battles. He may be small but he's smart and quick.

Soon Ender gets the news he's going to command school. Dragon army is split up and Bean gets control of his own army and finds out that Achilles is in the school. At first he just watches him and doesn't do a thing.

He finally figures out he's still a threat and kills him. He gets a recording of him that says he had planed to kill him.

Bean is soon also sent away to Command school with some of Ender's other friends. Once there they begin to train to fight the bugger war. They work hard with Bean as the Commander. Soon they meet their real Commander. Ender Wiggin.

They begin to play a 'game' training to fight the buggers. Bean soon sees through it and figures out the real game. Messing with Ender's mind as he goes crazy with little sleep, never knowing that he is really killing a race of living creatures.

Bean figures it out quickly like everything else and watches as Ender defeats them and finally figures it out. Now read the book and get the ending (.
