Vengeful Spirtits

Prologue: Tormented Dreams

The village burned to the ground as many of its surviving citizens ran screaming from their

homes. Cries of those who were trapped within the fires were heard all through the night. A

young boy sat huddled in a corner surrounded by the flames; crying, pleading to the heavens why

this had all happened.

It was all his fault, they had come for him. In their wake they destroyed the village he

had lived in. He looked up, feeling the hot, scorching flames that were ever engulfing him. A

familiar figure dove for him taking him out of the fire and cradling him in her arms.

" I'm so glad you're ok..." The soothing voice of his mother was what he heard. But no

sooner had some of the tension been relieved was he grabbed from behind.

" NO!" his mother cried as she was struck down by a huge blow from an axe.

" This one is ours now..." A malicious sounding voice hissed but was put to an abrupt stop.

" Mother!" the boy cried as he sent forth a blast of red-hot flames at his captor scorching

his face.

" My face! You will pay for what you have done!" he screeched knocking the boy unconcious

with a single blow.

" JAMES!" was the last thing he had heard his mother cry before she was killed.

" JAMES!"

" James!"

" james!"

" james..."

" JAMES! WAKE UP!" James opened his blue eyes with a start as a rather bitchy voice was

heard followed by ice-cold water on his face. It left his normally spiky, messy blonde hair

sopping wet and plastered to his head. Pulling the blanket from over his face he found that his

blue shirt and black pants were also soaked.

" AHHHH! WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT FOR!?" he yelled as the attacker ran laughing out the door

of the tent he had set up for himself, " RYU GET BACK HERE!" He got up and bolted after her only

to slam into Haela.

" What the heck James!" she snobbishly said. She flipped her long brown hair which was

normally tied up, but not today. She was dressed in a skimpy pink top, and tight beige pants that

laced up along the sides. Her brown eyes flashed dangerously at him.

" I uh... um... hi?" he blushed furiously. He had had a crush on her for the longest time.

" Well?" she put her hands on her hips and glared.

" Uh..." he stared at his crush in bliss. He was quite quickly snapped out of it by a sharp

flick to the back of the head and he was off chasing after Ryu, swinging his sword at her

violently.

" SORRY HAELA!!!!!!!!" he yelled as he ran off after his antagonist into the distance.

" Uggh, they can be such idiots. Oh well back to making breakfast!" and she busily got back

to her work.

" HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! YOU CAN'T CATCH ME- WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" Ryu tripped over a root that

was sticking up from the ground and rolled head over heels across the grass.

" GOTCHA!" James pointed the tip of the sword at her, " I win."

" Not quite!" she said, following words with a sharp kick to his stomach.

" Ow..." he fell over in pain whilst Ryu skipped happily off to join Haela.

" Hey Haela." Ryu greeted her friend happily, running her hand through her brown hair. A red

streak that closely resembled flames ran across her messy bangs. She was wearing a baggy black

top, with dark red pants, and black boots. Her red eyes resembled that of some sort of

psychopath.

" Hi Ryu, have fun pulling pranks?"

" As usual."

" Where's your victim?"

" I have no clue, probably crying his face off and hugging a tree."

" Probably right here." James walked over to them.

" Oh crap..." Ryu ran into her tent and sealed the door as best she could.

" Ok... What did she do this time?"

" Rude awakening, kick me in the stomach, usual."

" Right."

" So what's for breakfast?"

" Toast." she said as she handed him a blackened piece of bread.

" Um. Yummy..." he said, but he ate it anyway.

Pretty soon the three of them sat around their temporary camp site.

" So where to next?" Ryu stated out of the blue breaking the silence.

" Through the trail heading west. The closest temple is Water." James replied.

" Yes that's true. We'll head there." Haela said.

" So why are we doing this again?" Ryu, looking puzzled, asked.

" I'll explain it once again," James spoke up, " We are resurrecting the seven elements to

undo the evil caused by those... those..."

" Jerks?" Haela cut in.

" No those... I don't know who they were but we'll undo their evil!"

" Righty then." stated Ryu.

" Yes so we should be off now?" Haela questioned.

" Yes." James said.

Packing up their thing was what they were all off to do next. None of the three of them

noticed the two dark figures approaching them, both with their weapons ready to attack.
