Prologue

Eons ago, before the dawn of time the Gods were born. No one is quiet sure how they go here, but they arrived and set up Realms. The created everything we see today. After a while though, the Gods became lazy and did not want to take care of anything. So they created a new race, known as Spirits, this was when time began. There were two immortal Spirits, who next to the Gods were the most powerful forces in the universe. These were the Spirits of Life and Earth. The Spirit of Life also held the powers of Death, but she rarely used them. Life was also the ruler of all the Spirits, but Earth was their Guardian. The other Spirits were, Memory, Wisdom, Motherhood, Heart, Innocence’s, Water, Seas, Winds, Skies, Thunder, Rain, Lightening, Justice, Dawn, Night, Childhood, Birth, Fire, and Ice. These Spirits were mortal, traveled through generations, and were always female as a male could not be a Spirit.

Everything was peaceful for these Spirits. They never fought at all, and when the Gods created humans they took to taking care of them as well. The Spirit of Life, as she was no Guardian was give the guardianship of Humans. Her duty was to them and them alone. This lasted for a time. Than Life became lonely. She longed for someone to spend her time and to share the beauty of her Realm. Using her powers she brought forth a child, a baby girl, whom she cherished.

This greatly upset the other Spirits and they shunned her, but she took no notice. Eventually, the Spirits met and decided that something had to be done. As they could not bring themselves to harm an infant, incapable of protecting herself, they decided to punish her mother. However, when the Spirit of Earth went to collect the child from Life, the meeting did not go well. Life challenged Earth and anyone else who would not let her keep her child. A few Spirits allied themselves with her and chose to protect the infant, while others decided to follow the laws.

A Great War broke, that became known as The War of the Spirits or the Wars of Old to future generations. Life and Earth both fought each and finally Earth won. The Spirits decided that Life must give up half of her powers and bestow them upon the baby, as they could not kill the immortal child. The Spirit of Life bestowed the powers of Death and the Realm of Death to the child knowing she would be protected in that Realm. After the ritual was completed she made The Spirit of Earth swear to protect the child in her absence. Earth agreed and than she sealed the Spirit of Life into a deep slumber. A woman who was indeed the Spirit, but had no memory of it came forth. She began a life on Earth, as a woman. The child of Life grew as well. And so our story begins…
