It was a day like any other one. The rain was falling, but it didn't stop families from enjoying themselves. Some went to the movies; others watched their children splash in puddles. A woman with silverish brown hair was walking along with a little girl whose brown hair was pulled back in a ponytail. She was a single mother, who had divorced her husband many years ago, after being constantly abused, she lived with her now six year old daughter. They walked along the sidewalk and the child saw something that she decided to run after.
"Be careful, Arya, you don't want to slip and fall," The mother called to her offspring. The child as predicted fell as she slipped on the wet pavement.
"MOMMY! It hurts!" Arya wailed. Her mother knelt down next to her and looked over her.
"I told you to be careful, now try and stand up," the mother coaxed. Arya pushed herself to her feet, and noticed her knee was cut.
"Mommy, I'm cut," She informed.
"I know; does it hurt?"
"No," Arya lied.
"Does it really?" the mother questioned, knowing her daughter. She was still kneeling and put a hand behind her to keep from falling as Arya flung her arms around her neck.
"It hurts a lot, but I want to keep going," the little girl announced.
"All right," the mother replied taking her daughters hand as they continued to walk. They came to two girls splashing in the puddles. The girls were slightly older. One had her auburn hair tucked back behind her ears, and the other, had her blonde hair pulled back with a headband.
"Cersei! Sansa!" Arya exclaimed.
"Hello, Arya," they greeted.
"How are you?" the one named Sansa asked.
"I am fine," Arya replied.
"Hello, Ms. Danyers," Cersei said, addressing Arya's mother.
"Hello Cersei! Hi Sansa! Is your mother around?"
"Yep, over there," Sansa responded gesturing towards the porch where a silverish blonde hair woman sat.
"Danyers, it's been too long," the woman remarked standing up.
"Hello, Lyanna, we should definitely get together more often," Danyers agreed.
"Where are you going in this dreadful weather?" Lyanna inquired.
"To the ruins, I promised Arya I would take her." The girls had overheard this statement.
"Wow, you're going to the ruins! You know they're haunted, right?" Cersei stated.
"That's nonsense Arya don't listen to Cersei! They're not haunted at all, but they say you can still see where the Spirits roamed," Sansa laughed. Arya stared wide-eyed at the older girls, suddenly thinking that she didn't want to go.
"Stop filling that poor child's head with stories!" Lyanna reprimanded her twin daughters.
"Come along Arya," Danyers softly ordered taking her child's hand and leading her away.
"Mommy, it isn't really haunted, is it?"
"Of course not!" Danyers laughed, she did not believe in ghosts haunting places.
"Why is it so important?" Arya asked.
"The ancient Spirits died there," Danyers answered without thinking. Arya froze for a second.
"Di...Died?"
"Yes, after a long fight, but don't worry, that was thousands of years ago. Look here we are." Danyers pushed open the olden wooden doors with a creak. Inside, it was revealed to be an ancient throne room.
"WOW!" Arya gasped. She scampered off toward the throne, but stopped in the middle of the room. Danyers seeing the look of anguish moved closer to her daughter.
"What's wrong darling?" She asked.
"Mommy, where are they? Why are they so sad?"
"Who?" Danyers inquired not hearing anything at all.
"The voices, I can hear them crying," Arya replied. She wandered off to explore a little more and Danyers watched her like a hawk. However she felt herself drawn to the throne. When she placed her hand on it she felt something flow through her, a feeling of familiarity.
"This place is so familiar somehow," she whispered. Arya suddenly appeared next to her.
"Mommy, I have been here before," she announced.
"No you haven't darling, stop being silly," Danyers scolded lightly.
"Yes, I have Mommy I can feel it," Arya protested. Danyers was beginning to think that the stories might have gone to her daughter's head.
"Hush, my dear, let us go home," Danyers said. She walked down the steps and crossed towards the middle of the room where Arya had frozen when they'd first arrive. Thoughts began to fill her head. You must! Arya you will always be my daughter, "no matter how many thousands of years go by. Nothing can change that."
"Change what, Mommy?" Arya asked hearing her mother say confusing words. Danyers had not realized she'd been talking.
"hm?"
"You said, 'no matter how many thousands of years go by. Nothing can change that.'"
"How much I love you, my darling daughter," Danyers responded patting her child on the head.
"Mommy, will always be together, right?" Arya stated, leaning against her. Danyers had not quite discussed Death with her child; she tried to keep her as innocent as possible.
"I'll always be in your heart. Can you feel that? It's a warm, calm feeling," Danyers answered, placing her daughters hand over the child's heart.
"Yes."
"Good, even when I go to the other Realm, you will always be my daughter, and they can never take you away from me," Danyers swore.
"Who are they?" Arya asked, confused, again.
"The Spirits, come, I'll tell you a story on the way home," Danyers said. She knelt so her eyes were level to that of her daughters.
"A story? YEAH!" Arya giggled in excitement. She threw her arms around her mother's neck and clung. Refusing to let go, Danyers lifted her child to her hip and carried her.
"Once upon a time there were Kings, Queens, and Spirits..." she began.

By the time they had reached the house, night was falling. Danyers helped Arya get ready for bed as she told her story. She gave the child dinner, a bath, dried her off, and changed her for bed. As Arya was lying there listening, Danyers was sitting on the edge of her bed. Soon Danyers came to the end of her story.
"And so in the end, the Spirit of Death destroyed everything, including the Spirit of Life. She did this in hopes that she and her mother could at last have a normal life and be together. The Spirits were destroyed, but the souls were sent to humans in the future," she finished.
"Could it really have happened?" Arya asked, fascinated with the story.
"Anything's possible," her mother replied.
"Could Death have a family now?"
"Yes, and Life could have and raise her child without anyone telling her no," Danyers stated.
"Than the story has a good ending. Good night, Mommy," Arya decided. She placed her head on the pillow.
"Good night, Arya, sweet dreams."
"I love you," Arya said.
"And I love you," Danyers replied. She leaned down and kissed her daughter on the forehead, than she turned and left the room. Danyers left the door open a crack and as she went to walk down the hall she heard Arya get out of bed. Wondering why her child was up, she peaked in the room and saw her daughter drop to her knees.
"Spirits of the Ancient please let the Spirits of Life and Death be reborn now so they can have the life they dreamed of. Please do not allow another Life verse Death war, let them stay together," Arya said, than she climbed back into bed and went to sleep. Danyers who had been touched by her daughter's words, continued to watch her daughter sleep. Danyers decided to ask something of the ancient Spirits as well.
"Please give my baby the happy life she deserves."
