Author's note: I wrote this to vent my feelings about an upcoming vacation to the Bahamas that I'm being forced to go on with my Mom, Dad and younger sister. I want to stay with my aunts, but I'm not allowed to. Grr. I'll probably write more about this situation in the coming week.

Gilded Cage

Trapped in this house,
I can't stand your
petty hypocrisy
Why can't I be
Free from your orders?

I'm not a mindless robot
To whom will obey your
Every wish and whim
I've got my own mind

This is my cage,
Glittering gold
In light of their lies
My gilded cage

One day I'll be free
Free from my prison
Free from all the lies
Free to tear off your
hypocritical disguise

This house is my
golden gilded cage
Look carefully for
Then you'll see-
Underneath the
Facade is the cage
It is to me
