It had been a dark time. It was during the War that nearly wiped out half the human race on the Earth that a group of scientists, or devils, whichever was appropriate, decided to fiddle around with genetics. It was in their quest to find the perfect man. The most self sufficient, the strongest, in other words, the Perfect Soldier.
During that time, women and children were the first to be affected by the ravages of war, causing their numbers to drop drastically. Without these to supplement the human race, the Earth was at risk of extinction. Enter Dr. George Carlor and his team of 'cooks'. They opened Pandora's Box with their genetic 'recipes'. They had wanted to create a soldier that was able to reproduce itself, some what like how a worm does. Added to that, they included certain animal DNA into their Soldier to enhance the abilities of the man, making him stronger, smarter, with more sensitive sight and smell. It appears that they were able to breed the traits successfully into the first male they 'fiddled' with, but failed at ensuring they could procreate.
In a fit of frustration, Dr Carlor did the unthinkable, he used his own daughter for the experiment. Victoria Carlor was a woman of outstanding beauty. The most distinguishable trait was that of her eyes. They were violet with a hint of maroon outlined by black at the edges. It was said that her eyes were the cause of many man's broken heart. Her father, despite protests from the scientific community and general altered her genes similar to that of his first experiment, giving her all the traits of a Perfect Soldier, but effectively making her a man. Dr Carlor had succeeded, he as able to create a man that had all the traits necessary for procreation, a womb and all the relevant hormones added to the mix.
Unfortunately, before he could complete the experiment of self seeding, the wars ended and general public outcry at his 'playing God' caused the entire project to be shut down. It was rumoured that his own daughter, horrified at her father's uncaring treatment of his own child, murdered the doctor with her own hands. These, of course, were not substantiated.
Victoria was now alone, and despite all appearances, very much a female. Due to the genetic make up of the first failed experiment, the male, whom the doctor had named Adam, who will eventually will be called Seeders, mated with Victoria, resulting in a child. Victoria, herself, now outwardly every inch a man didn't have the ability to father a child even as she could give birth to one. Those with her ability would be eventually called Breeders.
