Live long, sweet land of mine

Adored rights of every kind

Live long, great home of trust

From your beginnings of blood, despair, and dust

Breathe the air of a lucky land

Whose future is made sure by destiny’s hand

All you who dwell within its borders

Whose way of life preserved by its order

Learn to love where you are

Experience wonders near and far

Discover new adventures beyond your dreams

Across the meadows, over the streams

Enjoy the things you have as one free

Open your eyes, and then you’ll see

How fortune has shined upon our people

For rights to be granted under a church steeple

We are free to believe what we choose

And be unafraid when others accuse

So express these hidden thoughts to all

To amuse, to convince, to enthrall

Enjoy these rights we should, we must

For to leave forgotten these pleasures is unjust

But to leave the less fortunate so, of course

Would be cause for much remorse

For happiness without sharing these wonderful things

Will ultimately take flight, with temporary wings

That will fail in a new day’s dawn

By which time, freedom will be long gone

Show others the beauty of a land so fair

And in their eyes find wonder there

Show them the vast and sparkling seas

Let them experience a cool mountain breeze

Allow them to find beauty in abandoned places

And enjoy the surprise you’ll find on their faces

Hear their questions of how’s and why’s

And tell them the answer is hidden in the skies

Discover different creatures and plants

Some you can see and others you can’t

Enjoy the freedom given to you

And appreciate the color blue

For with the blue comes the red

To which the color white is wed

If you wonder about the origin of love

You now know the answer lies in the skies up above

We are fortunate to be where we live

For peace and justice is ours to have and to give

From the majestic sky under which we walk

To the seas on which we sail and dock

To barren deserts and mountain crags,

Smile, for we live under the American flag.
