Sleepless nights

When I lay awake at night,

And allow my imagination to take flight.

It takes me on some escapades,

High in the mountains or deep in caves.

Sometimes I go to countries far,

Like in the lands of Myanmar.

Or right out back, outside my door,

Somehow different than before.

I might find myself in the ocean deep,

Amongst the fish, where creatures creep.

Or out in space, to the moon

Prancing proudly dune to dune.

I could be climbing a mountain high,

Taking the peaks, and absorbing the sky.

Or to the deep parts of earth,

In the caves where light is dearth.

In my visions the rainforest appear,

With jaguars and snakes coming near.

To the desert, an open plains,

Where zebras graze and lion reign.

Next I’d go to the polar north,

Where snow and ice stretches forth.

I find myself with paraphernalia

To explore the out back of Australia.

When I lay awake at night,

And allow my imagination to take flight.

It takes me on some escapades,

High in mountains or deep in caves.
