True Disabilities
A man walks down the street
With a special cane, moving slowly
Feeling his way along his path
Another man across the town
Uses his hands o form the words
His mouth just can’t get out.
Giving a speech in a classroom
A student struggles to spit out the words
That are running through his head
Somebody balances a tray
With a single moving hand and a prosthetic limb
In the place of something that was never there
Many stare and point
Not knowing how to react or to approach
A person that is not quite the same as them
So who has the disability?
The person who has moved on
And found other means to supplement
Or the person who refuses to ask about the handicap?
