The day was newly risen and the sun held gold,
Bringing forth the new day as the dawn turned old.
It came trudging and laboring across the lightening sky,
Finally reaching the horizon by the rooster’s second cry.
For now in the chicken coop lay three identical eggs,
Their mother, proud and plump, refusing to use her legs.
A trio of dotted, oblong shells made the batch,
Though days would sure pass before they would hatch.
But the days had passed long before,
With nothing but tiresome incubation in store.
When mother hen could almost no longer cope,
Out came Want, Ignorance, and Hope.
Little balls of fluff they were in their first days,
Following their mother and feasting on buffets.
Oh, if only they continued at her side, like the past,
Although then this meaningful tale would not last.
Ignorance was the first to begin to shy away,
Acting like some old, lonesome castaway.
She ventured off then, leaving her family pack,
And that was that, for she never came back.
Want was then consumed with his needs,
Looking to the sky other then his meal’s seeds.
How he wanted to fly and do away with his short wings,
Little did he know what an empty field and a hawk brings.
Now by the hen’s side, only Hope was there,
She would not get caught in ignorance nor want’s snare.
She became her own hen which cared and helped others,
And though she would have more sisters and brothers,
Nothing would’ve taught her more then the loss of Ignorance and Want.
~Ryuumi. It’s just a little meaningful yet humorous poem I scribbled out a while ago. I liked it.
