Winter’s Feathers
By, Ryuumi Karasu

As winter fell,
Covering the earth,
I walked among the snow,
With peaceful thoughts...

Beautiful the world seemed,
Covered in that white blanket.
Everything at sleep.
The silence put it to rest..

But then I found a little bird,
A bird with frozen wings.
A tender little body,
That was cold in my fingers...

Its little heart was still.
Winter had made it freeze.
I thought winter was pretty,
I forgot winter was cruel...

The little bird had died,
The cold had grounded it.
So I returned home,
To my warm place...

It kept out the cold,
The cold that took the bird.
No more would it fly,
Like my heart in winter...

~Ryuumi. Maybe I’ll make a series out of this, one for each season. It’s sad, but winter never made me happy.
