Have you seen the ship of bones?
The ship of flesh and blood,
With metal coated ribs . . .
The ship that haunts the seas,
With a leaking heart
Beating below deck,
In the rhythm of the waves
Day,
By endless day . . .
Those tattooed sails,
That ship longing for a reef.
Oh,
Fair traveler,
What destination do you seek?
The next reef,
The next reef
Is what I long for . . .
That beating heart
Within that ship of bones,
Trapped within its steel-rimmed cage,
Longing to break out.
Longing for the end.
Watch it strand,
Watch that ship of bones drift on
With each battering wave.
Ah,
Fair traveler,
May I ask which destination you seek?
The next reef,
The next reef!
Oh,
Ship of bones,
Bind that bleeding heart of yours,
Let no more darkness seep
From the wounds it carries.
The steel,
Carrying so many scratches,
With skin hardened by so many a storm,
Dying.
Dying.
In its own pain . . .
The mast of pure ivory bones,
That ribcage of a body . . .
And for the next reef I steer.
Fair traveler,
Behold that ship of bones,
Behold my pain and anger,
With a bleeding heart.
No more pain,
Drowning in the own blood
Of my heart,
Which leeks below deck.
The shadows and the darkness,
Spinning within those one white sails.
Ah,
And which destination is it
You seek?
Oh,
Ship of bones,
Ship of flesh,
And blood.
That beating heart,
Bleeding,
Leaking . . .
Where is the destination
You seek,
Oh ship of bones?
Which destination do you want
To reach,
In this storm of life?
Drifting out to sea,
Alone,
For your brother broke on his
First voyage . . .
Dying.
Dying.
With a tattered flag
Billowing in the harsh storm,
On a mast of bones.
That ribcage forever beating
With a bleeding heart within it.
Waiting.
Waiting.
Waiting for relief of its anguish.
Salvation for the ship of bones,
Save it from its own darkness.
Within the shadows,
Lurking,
Below deck . . .
Beneath the metal-coated bones . . .
Within the cage of bleached white ribs . . .
Beating.
Beating.
And bleeding . . .
Bleeding.
Bleeding.
And dying . . .
Dying with that leaking heart,
Trapped in its cage
Of silver steel,
And ivory bones.
Drifting.
Drifting
Farther away from
Salvation.
Return it,
Return it,
Return that innocence
To the ship of bones . . .
The ship with a bleeding heart,
The ship waiting,
For someone to rescue it
From its own desire for
Vengeance.
Ah,
Fair traveler,
Where will you go . . .
Where will you go,
When that ship of bones
Has gone under
In those crashing waves.
Oh,
Ship of bones,
Oh,
Fair traveler.
The next reef is yours,
The next reef is yours
To keep . . .
