Darkly cloying
mahogany syrup
clinging, coating the tongue.
Lingering on teeth and lips
in amber beads of sensuous sap.
Refined into pale,
silken pleasure—
soft, cool, and impressionable.
Into simple, sweet indulgence.
Into open, laughing innocence.
Vanilla—at least it's a classic.
