Nobody but Me
By: Cheyenne Taylor Age: 12 Issued: June 7, 2003

I'm standing on the shore
Where you said you'd find me
The salt blows creases in my eyes
What could this place be
The water soaks my feet
And the signs of night are showing
I am dripping wet
And the frigid wind is blowing
I am bearing everything
I kept my single word
But you're going to make me stand here
Waiting like a bird
You said you'd be here for me
But you aren't anywhere in sight
Only the ocean knows
That there are tears in my eyes
And it burns
That you would leave me here
With nobody but me
The waves they try to soothe me
But inside my heart is broken
No soul or body can save me now
Because silently your mind has spoken
You never really loved me underneath it all
But you lied and held me close
I feel so used and unwanted
I should forget about you I suppose
But what you did makes me sick
You said you'd be here for me
But you aren't anywhere in sight
Only the ocean knows tears are in my eyes
And it burns
That you would leave me here
With nobody but me
You took my heart
And gave it back empty
There's no way to undo
What's been done to me by you
This ocean only goes so far
But you were the world to me
Now I'm floating in space on a rock
Where there's one spot
That I was broken
Along with my heart
You said you'd be there for me
But you aren't anywhere in sight
Only the ocean knows that there are tears in my eyes
And it burns
That you would leave me here
With nobody but me
There's nobody here anymore
