Short updates.

Comics stuff: Gail Simone fired off Batgirl.

Now, it should be noted I am NOT a fan of the current Batgirl run. I think the decision to make Barbara Gordon walk again and put her back in costume was a bad one, and is a major step back for the character. It's also... somewhat damaging as Oracle has become a representative for disabled characters & fans. It was also entirely editorially mandated by DC's higher ups, as part of the 'Nu52' reboot at DC comics, rather than devised by a creator.

But Gail is a trooper, and did her damndest to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. She took the job with the editorial interference, and did her best to keep Babs history as Oracle canon, despite the changes to DC's timeline. And while in fan opinion she's struggled on the book, it's been steadily in the top thirty.

And now DC's fired her. By email, which I think is... deeply tacky, if nothing else. Nor do we know why. And Gail's statements to fans on the issue have been beyond classy. Hell, when fans were planning to bury her editor in complaints, she asked them to back off, telling them there were no villains in the situation.

Fanfic stuff: Well, I wrote porn again.

Yeah. Milk Maid over on ffnet. Heh.

I'm not sure quite what it means, that I got about twice my usual reviews for that one. Do readers WANT more boob sucking fanfiction? Or more porn? Tho admittedly I tried to keep something VAGUELY resembling a plot in there.

I'm also surprised I didn't get more complaints about the character I gave the boob sucking fetish to. It's a Mai Hime fanfiction, and I had one of the more tightly wound characters, Haruka Suzushiro, be the one with the boob sucking thing. Mind you I HAVE a in-universe explaination that kinda makes sense, but strangely no one's asked.

I wonder, do Mai Hime fans think Haruka's THAT messed up? Or do they think the story was just 'Plot, what plot' and don't care? I know it's minor, but it bugs me.
