We'll begin with a four-letter sport
Popular in King Author's time
Played by brave and honorable knights
Wishing to settle an argument, or a fight

Now take the middle of fuel
And in this sport, turn them around
Then erase the first of lynx
Epidural indulges, but epidermis declines

Double the last digit of little
But wait, before you tack it on
Find the missing part of a dragon's sale
Second to last is where this letter slips upon

My first definition states
I'm a card with two spots
My second says I'm a tie
And my final is a dollar bill of two

I'm composed of five letters
I'm pronounced in one syllable
Though my meanings will vary
I'm never a verb, always a noun--
Tell me, what am I?
