Light In The Tunnel

I look out at the darkness before me,
My eyes are open yet I see only black.
Where's the light at the end of the tunnel?
Where does the darkness end?

A flashlight I find,
Yet the artificial beam is sucked into the darkness.
No dreams, no hopes,
Just black.

A flash of light somehow finds me,
Joy fills me at the sight.
Yet just as I reach towards it,
The light runs from me.

Am I the bringing of this darkness?
Did I willingly stumble into this endless tunnel?
Why didn't someone hold me back?
Why did they let me go?

I sit down on the cold ground,
My knees are at my chest.
There I sit, cold and alone,
Awaiting light's return.

The dawn never comes to me,
Yet still I sit and wait.
I light a candle,
For warmth as well as well as light.

A chill wind blows the dew covered grass,
Night slowly recedes to dawn.
At the end of the tunnel light waits for me,
But my candle has gone out.

More dark and dismall stuff from me...sorry...I enjoy being negative. Anyways I hope it didn't depress you too much. Review please. ~Frozen Midnight~
