Rebirth

She dances among the fallen leaves
Lithe and gentle
Smilingly, eyes closed
To the crackle and the wonder of merry flames
And the whisper of the branches overhead
She dances

She sings out to the coming night
Soft and crystalline
Freely, arms outstretched
Up into the sky
To the glory of the cosmos above
She sings

She sighs into the gathering dark
Slow and melancholy
Wearily, her song and dance forgotten
Though the trees smile down on her
And the stars laugh their music from infinities away
She sighs

He watches from what seems a world away
Entranced and enchanted
Wonderingly, lips apart
At the form and grace
And the awakening of the earth
He watches

And seeing him, she takes his hand
In time for the world to begin again
