Breaking Point

Silence washes over me,
The hatred grows within,
I lick the bitterness from my lips,
The bitterness of sin.

I smile, though I don't mean it,
And I really want to scream,
I look around me, paranoid,
I can't wake from this dream.

All I want is solitude,
Somewhere I can hide,
I need a break, I need escape,
From the pain deep down inside.

I fight the fear I harbour,
I feel I should be crying,
But the tears dried up long ago,
Slowly, I am dying.
