Is it white on black, or black on white?
But, no matter- a zebra cannot change its stripes.
Perhaps it used to blend and find protection in its skin,
But surroundings change with inevitable circumstance.

Alas, the zebra cannot change its stripes
And is now forever stuck in hostile environments.
What should the zebra do for its stripes?
What can it do, except run!

It is bound to happen; everything changes.
But for the poor animal that cannot adapt-
A moment of silence, perhaps a tear shed,
In honor of the many it will weep.
