Darkness

The darkness engulfs me,
Drowns me in its depths.
There is light, in the darkness,
Somewhere far away.

I refuse to die in darkness,
I will swim against its current.
The evil hands may push me down,
But the peaceful ones shall help me.

To die of drowning in these waters,
No, I cannot go down.
I will swim ashore and walk away,
The darkness shall stay behind me.

The darkness in words and actions finally release me,
The waters slowly ebb.
No longer will the darkness come for me,
For I have beat it down.

This is a poem I wrote a long time ago about how people can try to drown your spirit with cruel words and actions but they will only win if you allow their darkness to merge with your light. Never give up.
