Refuse

Can’t you see how things have changed?

Everything has been rearranged

Nothing is as it seems

The smallest wound can shatter dreams

But I refuse to blow away

With the terrible new of the new day

And I refuse to let go…and I will stay

Because I will never blow away

Towers fall terror ensues

Nothing can stop the peril that brews

But I won’t fear this I cannot change

The world I love, will rearrange

Lives shatter, thread fray

With the new day of the new day

And I’ll remain, I promise you

Because blowing away, is something I refuse to do….

Only a Distraction

Silence threatens the sanctity of life

Heavy thoughts, pain through the days

Lingering wounds, anger--strife

Nothing has changed, through the years

Death and terror trudges on with the hours

Everything is fuzzy through the tears

No one listens to the enlightened ones

Those who demand revenge are truly wrong

The ones who are listened to have politics, power and funds

The world dies, day-by-day--smothered by our growth

No one listens to those who think

With power comes greed, with which betray is betroth

Nothing can happen without action

Hunger, sickness, decay

Minor are these to those…only a distraction

Iodine

Soul encases in stone, heart a block of ice

No one can enter no joy will suffice

Chipping away, scratches on the surface

The armor has truly served its purpose.

Nothing can deter the thoughts inside

Though stone and ice are composed of pride

Digging down, scraping past suppressed dreams

Open wounds, like iodine induced screams

I broke a crack her heart froze it wide

Only now, I’m scared of and love what’s inside.
