Cloned Individualism

Walk down the hall
it's all the same
manufactured individualism
They all have that shirt
because that famous girl
wore it that once, you know?
And the cutest skirt
that looked good on
the mannequin
And all the tweens
boast their non-comformist ties
to prove they are complicated
skater grrls with straight hair
and too much eyeliner.
Seventeen tells them
what they like to wear
and all the cool music
that describes their
cool lives.
And when you don't wear
what's on the American shelf,
they stare, like you're the
strange one.
Just because you dress as you.
And not like the model
or the celebrity
or the cool girl
with the jock boyfriend.
Because you don't strut
the mass produced
attitudes.
