Battle at the Southern Districts

Eighteen Green Space Choppers floated above a deserted area, located not far from Toran District. Toran has been one of the well known areas in the Fourth Section. A very large area surrounded by small group of inhabitants.

Hundreds of paratroopers were dropped from the choppers onto the area. Each armed with a rifle and a light laser cannon at his back. Bombs were dropped before them, hitting the ground with large blasts that could even kill the paratroopers.

Laser streaks could be seen from below, targeting the paratroopers. One of them was shot down. The others tried to pull out their parachutes. Each of the paratroopers stood in balance on a board, so that they could easily glide and evade the enemy attacks from above.

Some of the paratroopers who managed to pull out their parachutes tried to shoot the enemy with their cannons. Unfortunately, they were unable to see their targets. The clouds were blocking their sights.

Thirty paratroopers touched the ground safely with their rifles in hand, followed by the other sixty. The others were dead. Headless bodies hit the ground.

Nothing was there. They found no one. The old urban world was very quiet. The paratroopers marched into nine groups. All of them started to trot towards every building to look for targets. Their leader took out a digital binocular and scanned the area cautiously. Every top of each building was inspected. Nothing was there.

Suddenly, the ground shook. The leader trembled and was captured by big tiger-looking paws that emerged from below. In just a minute, the struggling soldier was out of sight. Only bloods were seen on the road.

“What was that?” One of the soldiers realized what just happened.

“It’s… it’s…”Another one pointed his finger towards the ground.

Another paws appeared, devouring another soldiers into the ground. The alerted soldier fired his weapon towards the swift hands. They were gone.

One the hands grabbed his feet, and pulled him. He cried in pain.

DK walked towards an alley. His mission was to kill every person inside the highest building in the Fourth Section. With large rifle in hands, he inspected every room. Nothing suspicious. He could see only stacks of papers.

The next room was inspected carefully. He was doing this all alone. His teammates –or his troublemakers to be precise –were looking at him from outside the building. He looked at them from the room through the window, and made a hand signal, showing that the place was clear. He just walked emotionless towards the next room.

“Why don’t we come up and see what he’s been doing? I’m afraid that he might be cheating,” said one of the soldiers below.

The other one grunted. “He’s dangerous, ya’ know that? Baldwin just told us that this guy hates to be interrupted, and that might be the cause of our teammates’ death back at Praig.”

“He just acts like a robot. How can we trust him?”

“We just have to believe Baldwin’s words.”

DK searched the final room at the top floor, and almost nothing was there. There was only a trail of blood leading him to the roof. He dashed to the roof using the stairway and headed towards the end of the trail. Someone had just committed a suicide. The blood was new.

Below, his leader gave an order to go down. He nodded and started to jump, head towards the ground.

Everyone below was shocked. What the heck is he thinking about? He started to turn his body 180 degrees, and grabbed something from inside his pocket. A big ball of blue light appeared, surrounding him.

The ball hit the ground with an explosion, shaking the soldiers. All of them ran to get him, and he was okay. He had not even one scratch.

“What the hell just happened?” asked one of the soldiers.

“I don’t know. Something was telling my mind to do this.” DK replied.

“Whatever happens, we must get packed and move to Toran. The others must be waiting for us,” said the leader.

“But… what about our mission?” asked his teammate.

“It’s accomplished. Our ‘target’ has escaped.

DK walked towards a group of soldiers, loitering at the corner of an APC. One was smoking; while the other two was talking with glasses of red milk. A pot of milk was put on a big rock in front of them. It was very hard for anyone to look for the red milk. It was part of the Second Section’s production to “help” the population of this world.

His group had met the First Executing Team on his way to Toran. This team had provided an APC as a better way to travel. At this time, everyone wore a mask as the place was contaminated with dirty dust.

The group of soldiers wasn’t wearing any mask. The soldiers were the experts in the team. DK joined them, and had a drink. He couldn’t stand the weather, but he just had to pull out his mask to taste the milk.

“You’re famous, kid. How long have ya’ been in this military?” asked the smoking one.

DK didn’t answer. He felt as if it was a question not to be answered. He took a sip of the milk and glared at the man.

The guy shook his head. “If ya’ wanna live, you must at least say something.”

“You don’t have to order me to do something.”

“Finally… ya’ speak!” the guy tapped his shoulder.

“We’ve been looking for this guy for months, why wouldn’t he show up?” the other guy beside him asked.

“Our tracers couldn’t even find this guy. How can we possibly take him?” the guy on his left replied.

“You just have to work harder,” said DK. He didn’t show any emotion.

“Hey, ya talk just like a philosopher!” the smoker smiled. “The name’s Big Head.” He offered his hand towards DK.

“I’m Red Hat.” The other one offered his hand.

“And I’m Nice Cap. You’re DK, right? Nice to meet you.”

DK didn’t shake their hands. He just showed a gloomy face.

Toran’s Gate was in a bad shape. The walls were broken. The APC stopped at the front gate and opened its hatch. The first team and the second team walked out and reformed new groups.

DK joined a group consisting another four men- Jelly, Red Hat, Slinger and Big Head. The other groups started to head for the quiet city.

Suddenly, an explosion in front of them interrupted their movement. A large red ant appeared from underground, covered by hundreds of masked soldiers in front of it. DK’s men who were trembled started to open fire. Every bullet was aimed at the ant’s eyes.

Unfortunate for them, the soldiers opposing them fired their guns and killed almost half of the men.

The ant grunted. Its transparent shells covering its eyes started to shatter. It tried to dodge the bullets while looking for prey.

The APC later played its part as it launched a lot of small rockets rapidly from each rocket stack covering its body.

The missiles hit the ant’s head and big explosions occurred. Its head touched the ground, smacking the soldiers which were firing at his teammates.

A pair of machineguns appeared at the front of the APC. The long ranged machineguns opened fire. Most of he enemy’s soldiers at the front line were killed.

More rockets came out from the APC and destroyed the surrounding area. The APC moved forward to get clearer targets.

DK aimed his rifle at the incoming armies. The first guy was shot down, followed by the second one. Red Hat tried to cover him as he moved in front of DK, but DK just pushed him aside and fired at the enemy.

“Call out your anger. You have the power.” The voice echoed behind DK. He suddenly stopped. “Call out your name. Call out your anger.”

“I don’t have a name!” DK cried while pulling out his long sword to slay the enemy.

        “You have a name… seek it…” another voice echoed. A woman’s voice.

Eight men were killed in a second and the ninth was about to meet his death. He was scared. DK just smiled and cut the guy’s neck.

The armies had come closer towards the APC. The machineguns were broken after being blown by grenades, leaving only rockets to survive the attack. Holes were made at its armor.

Big Head tried to save the APC. A lot of soldiers were killed by him, as he fired at them from behind. He hid behind a big rock while aiming at them.

Suddenly, two big paws grabbed Big Head’s feet. Big Head cried in pain and he was sucked into the ground.

DK saw what happened. He couldn’t do anything to save the guy. He was far away from the guy. He felt guilty.

       “Callout your anger…”

       “You have a name… seek it…”

“I have a name,” DK replied the voices. “I am DK.”

He controlled the war, ignoring the others.

“The guy is missing,” Beverly said.

“It looks like we have to bring DK to the next area. Call off the mission,” Prof. Baldwin ordered.

“Yes sir.” Beverly left the research room and headed for the Leader’s Office.
