Lament of Renaissance

Settled in a room with a fog-like density,
A tainted scent fulfilling a lifeless scene,
The shivering floor ashamed by a broken touch,
A lonesome window breathing a well-dimmed glow.
Nameless dreads keep the carcass to the jagged wall,
Blood streaming from a blinking eye; the unknown cause,
A psyche once riddled with a fleeting mystery,
Solutions remain on the tip of a bitter tongue.
Spreads in the torso with crucifixion's labels,
A once-lit candle lays shattered aside the gore,
Betrayal afflicting anguish fell lost in time,
Morning's wake remembered but a past forgotten.
Tired and dispatched by some secluded purpose,
Feeling its presence in a nonhuman form,
Hearing the faint curtains fluttering to darkness,
Stricken dumbfounded by a growing enigma.
The shadow proceeds to shrink on the hardwood floor,
The foreign emotion grows parallel with time,
Darkness could engulf each memory forever,
Leaving the cadaver in the corner abandoned.
In pensive response, a golden bell is summoned,
Spirits humming a random hymn with the chime,
Allowing the soul to vanish through the window,
And rest peacefully in a timeless existence.
