From the Window…

From the window, I see the sky

Basked in the sun’s glory

From my lips, escapes a sigh

The sight of warm hues cascading

My raven pools avert their gaze

From the window to my palm

Cold soft fingers entwined with mine

I try my best to be calm

Her ragged breathing, I cannot hear

As it is muted by my thumping heart

A flurry of questions, emotions in a stir

Pent-up tears, ready to depart

The sight of her— it makes me weak

Her chest rising and falling

I cannot bear seeing her face

Filled with such sorrow and agony

From the window, I watch the sun

Kiss the ocean goodbye

Orange and yellow, they are gone

Letting darkness conquer the sky

My cheeks are stained by crystal tears

My heart is stabbed and also pierced

My hand is squeezed by her fingers

Her spirit soars while mine lingers

An excruciating pain, my heart feels

My lashes meet, a flood of tears

She is gone— never to return

How can fate be so cruel

Lifeless fingers slip from my grasp

Serenity seen on her face

Bondage of agony, broken at last

At the window, I once again gaze

From the window, I see the sky

Entrancing blanket of blue

Many stars waver, a single one shines

My question now answered

My heart can now smile
