You were the only one and

now you’re gone

and I’m so cold.

My broken heart is empty

and I need

someone to hold.

You didn’t give a reason,

or bother to explain.

Together we were one

and I never felt the rain.

A day does not go by

that I don’t think of you.

I’ll always wonder why

there was nothing I could do.

You were the only one and

now you’re gone

and I’m so cold.

My broken heart is empty

and I need

someone to hold.

Today I stepped outside

and fully felt the pain.

As I looked up to the sky

my face was wet with rain.

But it could have been my tears –

I don’t know anymore.

My world is upside down.

I’ve never felt like this before.

You were the only one and

now you’re gone

and I’m so cold.

My broken heart is empty

and I need

someone to hold.

I find that I am broken –

I’m in pieces on the floor.

You’re all I ever wanted –

you and me and nothing more.

But you’re a master player

and I’m another pawn.

You think you’ve got me dying

but I’ve got strength to carry on.

You were the only one and

now you’re gone

and I’m so cold.

My broken heart is empty

and I need

someone to hold.

A/N: Yes, it’s true, musically-challenged me wrote a song.  I’ve never been dumped, so I don’t know where this is coming from.  I wrote the lyrics in about 3 minutes flat and it’s going to take an hour of futzing around on the piano for just the simple melody.  Now go to the bottom of the screen and hit Go.  Thankin’ you kindly.
